Donato, Sr. and Liana Giusti opened the Subway Cafe in July of 1948. Now, thousands have stopped at the two-story brick building with its tall neon sign for the old-world pizzas. The couple took over the restaurant at 1000 Herr St. and unknowingly built a landmark! 78 years later and it's still going strong!!!!

Capital Area Polar Bear Plunge 2/28/26

Want to help support the Special Olympics? Come join us Saturday February 28th, 2026 at Gifford Pinchot State Park for the Annual Capital Area Polar Plunge to benefit local Special Olympics PA programs. There will also be a costume contest, Virtual Balloon Polar Pop, and a "chicken plunge". Even the chicken plungers will receive an official Chicken Tee-shirt.
