We stayed at the Bridgeview B&B from 10/17-10/21. It was our second visit this year and the view is beyond breathtaking whether you are a train lover or not. The atmosphere is casual and the other guests are friendly. We recommend you visit the Bridgeview B & B any time of year. You won't be disappointed. Dee P Reno, Nevada

Our family selected Bridgeview B&B for a reunion, and it was the best decision! The staff welcomed us and made us feel truly at home. We had complete access to the spacious decks overlooking the Susquehanna River, use of grills, and other amenities that we would never find in a hotel. The owner is also very knowledgeable about the region and gave us many helpful insights into local history and activities. We all were sad to leave but plan to return next year! We had another wonderful relaxing weekend at the Bridgeview again! It has become a home away from home for us. This trip treated us to a nice snowfall, and lots of fun playing in the snow. We look forward to another trip when the weather gets warmer. Gcmom Springfield, VA

The Liberty Bell tolls to announce the Declaration of Independence, July 8t

On this day in 1776, a 2,000-pound copper-and-tin bell now known as the "Liberty Bell" rings out from the tower of the Pennsylvania State House (now Independence Hall) in Philadelphia, summoning citizens to the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence. Four days earlier, the historic document had been adopted by delegates to the Continental Congress, but the bell did not ring to announce the issuing of the document until the Declaration of Independence returned from the printer on July 8.
In 1751, to commemorate the 50-year anniversary of Pennsylvania’s original constitution, the Pennsylvania Provincial Assembly ordered the bell to be constructed. After being cracked during a test, and then recast twice, the bell was hung from the State House steeple in June 1753.
With the outbreak of the American Revolution in April 1775, the bell was rung to announce the battles of Lexington and Concord. The most famous tolling, however, was on July 8, 1776, when it summoned Philadelphia citizens for the first reading of the Declaration of Independence.
This important day in History has been brought to you by The Bridgeview Bed & Breakfast. Check out what previous guests have to say at Tripadvisor, then give us a call at 717-957-2438 to book your stay!
